This is a design my 10-year-old daughter created on the computer last week. I was amazed when she showed it to me. She had created it with no help from anyone. I thought it exhibited several basic design concepts we've been studying in class. In regards to balance, there is a definite symmetrical balance, both vertically and horizontally. There is also a balance and unity in the selection of the rectangle shape and the freeform designs within each block.I don't know what she calls the design, but I've given it the title of "Smarter Than a 5th Grader?".
